Whoever says great things don’t come out of Nambour hasn’t met the latest regional winner of the Ralph bikini quest Jessie Doorey who triumphed in Caloundra.

While Nambour businesses are feeling a little jaded after media coverage of a drive-by shooting on the weekend, they could easily point to Jessie, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and even treasurer Wayne Swan as among the great things to come out of the former sugar town.

For someone who had never heard of the Ralph Australian Swimwear Model Competition, Jessie did well to walk away with the regional crown.

The Image Flat teenager stole the show from 17 other contenders at the Kings Beach Tavern final on the weekend.

After strutting her stuff at the Kings Beach Tavern she won $8000 worth of cash and prizes and the right to compete in the national finals next month.

Held at the Gold Coast, the Australian title will be contested by 45 girls in front of an expected audience of 10,000 people.
